Artist Bio
Art has always been a part of who I am. One of my earliest memories is winning a local colouring competition, where I filled a picture of dinosaurs with vibrant colours. My prize was a set of dinosaur toys — a cherished possession that still reminds me of the creative spark that has driven me ever since.
My love for art continued to grow throughout school and university, where I studied art and began to develop my practice. Initially focused on painting and drawing, my work evolved over time to include site-specific installations. During my university years, I was fortunate to create works for York Minster, participate in the first Lux After Dark art trail in York, and exhibit in St. Martin Cum Gregory on Micklegate, a derelict space at the time. I also explored themes inspired by Tanka poetry, which led to exhibitions in both London and Japan.
After university, I participated in many collaborative projects, including YoMü, working alongside artists from Münster, Germany. This resulted in exhibitions both in Germany and closer to home.
In more recent years, following a move to North Yorkshire, my practice has evolved once again, now embracing painting and a newfound love for printmaking. Having experienced significant loss, my work has increasingly focused on the transience of life. I often find patterns within nature that reflect this impermanence, while also celebrating the beauty in the everyday — a stunning sunrise, the delicate structure of a seed head rising amongst the hedgerows, or the intricate veins of a leaf. My work continues to develop in response to the changing seasons, as I explore the delicate balance between growth, decay, and renewal.
Through my art, I aim to capture these fleeting moments and invite you to pause and reflect on the beauty in the world around us with me.
